Excited to welcome Cartwin to Greentown. As far a Greentown stories goes, this one shows how having two facilities helps us better support members–between Rohit Mahajan in Boston and Corey E Thompson here in Houston–we can help accelerate the full team across the country.
CarTwin itself is an interesting convolution of IoT, Digital Twins, and carbon accounting enmeshing in a legacy industry CarTwin will help fleet managers not only reduce operating costs, but will also help them measure and manage the Scope 1 Emissions generated by fleet vehicles.

CarTwin utilizes the latest Cognitive Digital Twin technology and seamlessly blends a data collection device, Wi-Fi and 4G/5G streaming, cloud applications, customizable dashboards, and integrates with the fleet management systems.
The platform records and utilizes the data streaming through fleet vehicles. In combination with powerful AI models CarTwin predicts breakdowns, monitors and improves performance, measures and records real time greenhouse gas emissions, reduces expensive maintenance costs and avoids lost revenue associated with fleet downtime. Insights from CarTwin help reduce the carbon footprint and it benefits corporate ESG objectives.
The transportation sector is responsible for 16 percent of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Under the new Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over 8000 manufacturing facilities are required to report Greenhouse gas data. Additionally, new regulations are being developed which will require companies to begin to report GHG data for vehicles.
Scope 1 emissions are from sources that an organization owns or controls directly. For example, from burning fuel in your fleet of vehicles. CarTwin provides this detailed information on a near real time basis for each individual vehicle
Scope 3 emissions that are not produced by the company itself, and not the result of activities from assets owned or controlled by them, but by those that it’s indirectly responsible for, up and down its value chain. CarTwin enables a company to easily and accurately report these emissions to its customers with confidence in the data down to the individual vehicle.
CarTwin has the unique capability to provide hard data to support reporting and reducing Scope 1 and Scope 3 Emissions. EPA Center for Corporate Climate Leadership defines the Scope 1, 2 and 3 Emissions:
